Kibble can be cooked at a Butcher spot or Butcher table. A batch of kibble requires 1 unit of nutrition from vegetarian items, and 1 unit of nutrition from meat or animal products. For example, 20 rice and 20 insect meat are sufficient. A completed bill requires 450ticks (7.5secs) and produces 50 kibble at a butcher table, but only 35 at a butcher spot.

Kibble is consumed for 0.05 nutrition per item. Kibble has 125% nutrition efficiency when produced at a butcher table, producing 2.5 nutrition per 2 nutrition from raw food. This drops to 87.5% efficiency when produced at a butcher spot, producing only 1.75 nutrition per 2 nutrition from raw food.

Unlike most other foods, it does not rot. While it will still deteriorate if left outside and/or unroofed, it will not spoil even if left unrefrigerated.

Humans can eat kibble, but they'll get a 12 "Ate kibble" mood penalty. This is the only way for humans to eat hay. If the kibble was made out of insect meat or human meat, their respective moodlets will be applied. If Ideology DLC is active and the kibble was made out of raw fungus, its normal moodlet will also be applied.

In regular soil: hay turned into kibble is slightly worse for nutrition/tile/day than rice turned into simple meals, and slightly better than rice turned into pemmican. Rice surpasses hay for nutrition per day in rich soil, but hay will always be better for nutrition per work.

• Animals will eat an entire meal, even if they would overeat. Kibble and pemmican satiate 0.05 nutrition/item, which greatly reduces overeating.

For example, a chicken can only store 0.3 nutrition in their stomach; they would consume 5-6 kibble when hungry, but a full meal every time. The smaller an animal is, the larger the effect of overeating (minimal effect at size >= 1).

• Kibble requires substantially less work time than other recipes.

What is kibble?

Ive seen a number of advertisements recently offering bespoke kibble dog food. What is that all about? Kibble is kibble. It is dry, lifeless, mechanically engineered, synthetic biscuit made to look like chunks of meat to fool people into thinking theyre feeding their dogs real protein.

Anyone can make kibble

Anyone can do it. You simply visit a specialist kibble manufacturer where on the shelf in front of you youll see a whole array of dry, powdered ingredients in jars such as you would see at the premises of an old fashioned apothecary.

You say, Oh, Ill have a bit of this, a bit of that and a little of the other, please, and hey presto, theyll blend those ingredients and in less then 7 days turn it into kibble for you.

Thats how you blend perfume. Its not the way you make proper, nutritious food for your dog!

Kibble is kibble

At the end of the day, kibble is kibble. Its mechanically extruded, synthetic biscuit made with inferior ingredients and it is not healthy for your dog. And as for removing plaque and tartar that is pure fabrication. It actually makes plaque and tartar worse!

Beat pulp, fish meal, fructooligosaccharide, gravy digest, maize, maize gluten, meat meal, pea protein and sugar beat are not proper food for dogs, any more than manganous oxide is a natural substance.

Oh, and I nearly left out my personal favourite. Wood pulp. Yes, check the ingredients on a bag of kibble. If it lists cellulose amongst the ingredients, that cellulose is provided by sawdust. Outrageous but true!

Most of the above are not even proper food. Chicken thigh, turkey breast, diced lamb, Atlantic cod, carrots and peas, they are proper food. Thats what you and I eat and thats what your dog should be eating. Thats certainly what my dogs eat!
